Faith, Our youngest and latest resident

Faith is only 8, our youngest resident, but life has not been easy to this point for this little girl.

She is the firstborn in her family, and her father and mother are both in prison. We found her being raised by her grandparents who are in their 80s – a very rare age in Zambia.

Her father has been in prison for some time. The mother was just imprisoned this past year and Faith’s younger sibling is an infant and remains with the mother in prison.

Faith’s mother is in prison because the authorities had to be called by neighbors for the repetitive physical abuse her mother was doing to her. When the police came the final time they found her mother had closed her in a deep freeze that had no power. This is when Faith was removed from the house and the mother was taken to prison.

Faith has had a struggle adapting to feeling cared and loved by anyone around her – her grandparents have really been challenged to not only provide financially and keep her in school but to reach her emotionally and to show her security and love.

Please be praying for Faith, the staff, and the house as she transitions to living at WellSpring and we find the additional counseling and support this child will need on her journey of healing.
