Giving Tuesday has become a Global Movement. Here in the US we understand it to be a day in which we “give” to our favorite charity or non-profit in order to help that group accomplish a mission we have passion for.
In Zambia, Giving Tuesday is about touching the lives of those in need, those suffering in extreme poverty, those in true need.
As a ministry WellSpring is passionate about creating a culture of “giving”, we want it demonstrated by our staff and volunteers so that our children become passionate about giving as well.
This year we were blessed to partner with Giving Tuesday Zambia as a core partner and bring the event to Mufulira. The partnership included many government and non-government organizations coming together for the common purpose of helping touching some precious people in the community we are proud to serve.
As the host organization for the event in Mufulira, you directly impacted the lives of 73 children (beyond the normal ministry of WellSpring) and 20 elderly women. The children were provided with food, school supplies, crucial hygiene, as well as sanitary supplies. The elderly women were provide gift of food, hygiene supplies.
The event started at 10am and included music played by a live band, the WellSpring girls provided special music and memory verses, there were speeches by honored guest, including local government officials.
The children were fed during the event and the gospel was shared. The core message was as believers in Christ we are called to share with those in need.
We thank the Lord for our team in Zambia, Misheck and Clara went above and beyond as the hosts of the event and it was no small task brining such a large group of like minded organizations together.
WellSpring will continue to be involved and next year it is our heart to triple the budget we can make available to reach even more women and children.
