A Note From Naomi...
I am so happy to be here, staying together, sleeping on my bed, and eating together as a family. I love going to church together, playing with my friends without fighting, and working together. I love my house parent Clara and how she keeps and teaches us to pray together.

Naomi was welcomed into WellSpring due to the significant challenges she faced at home. She had been living with her elderly grandparents in an overcrowded household of 13 people. Her grandparents are humble peasant farmers, struggling to grow just enough food for the family to survive, with no means to support Naomi’s education or personal development.
Although both of Naomi’s parents are alive, they live in a remote rural village and are unable to provide for her schooling or daily care.
WellSpring stepped in to support Naomi by offering a stable home, access to education, and life skills development. Our goal is to ease the burden on her grandparents while equipping Naomi with the tools and support she needs to thrive.
Naomi is now 13 years old, but her journey with WellSpring began when she was just 10. At the time, she was living in a crowded home with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins—13 people in total—none of whom had stable employment. The family relied on occasional odd jobs and subsistence farming to survive, often managing just one meal a day.
Naomi’s parents live in the remote village of Mporokoso, over 13 hours away. They depend entirely on small-scale farming and are unable to provide for Naomi’s education or basic needs. Her aunt brought her to live with her grandparents in hopes that she could find a better opportunity for schooling.
Despite walking an hour each way to Twashuka Basic School, Naomi faced enormous challenges—lacking proper shoes, school supplies, and even enough food. Her aunt tried to help by selling vegetables on the streets in the evenings, but the burden on the family was overwhelming, especially as her aunt’s husband also struggles with mental illness.
WellSpring became a turning point in Naomi’s life. Through the care and support of the program, she now has access to consistent education, nutritious food, and life skills development. Naomi’s story is one of resilience and quiet strength, and through WellSpring, she is building a future filled with possibility and hope.
