My name is Mary Kaunda, and I am 14 years old. Before I came to WellSpring, life was very hard. I lived with my grandparents, who are very old and could only provide one meal a day — sometimes we didn’t eat at all. I got sick a lot, and school was difficult because we didn’t have enough money for uniforms or supplies.
Since coming to WellSpring in 2023, my life has completely changed. Now I have good clothes, plenty of food, and everything I need to go to school without worrying. I even passed my Grade 7 exams and started junior secondary school at Kalanga Secondary! Geography and Mathematics are my favorite subjects.
At WellSpring, I have learned so many new things like baking scones, typing on a computer, and singing at church. I even learned that food like chicken and jungle oats — which I thought were only for people far away — could be part of my life too.
I thank God every day for WellSpring and for all of you who support us. Because of you, I am healthy, happy, and full of dreams for my future. Thank you for loving us, for helping me grow, and for giving me the chance to have a life I never thought was possible.
