Thanks to your generous support, something beautiful has been growing at our new WellSpring property — a small but meaningful patch of maize, planted and cared for by the girls over the past few months.
Earlier this year, our team decided to keep the land busy and productive by planting 1.5 kilograms of maize seed. With the blessing of a strong rainy season in Zambia, the girls watched with excitement as the maize grew tall and healthy. This Saturday, the WellSpring team and girls came together to harvest the fruits of their hard work. We gathered about 40 kilograms of fresh green corn for the girls’ house earlier in the season, and now, we proudly harvested an additional 25-kilogram bag of maize!
The maize will soon be ground into mealie meal, a staple of Zambian breakfasts, and will nourish the girls in the months ahead. Beyond providing food, this project gave the girls an opportunity to connect with an important part of life in the Copperbelt Province, where farming remains a vital source of survival alongside mining.
The girls had so much fun working together, learning, and seeing the results of their efforts — and it was all possible because of YOU. Your support isn’t just providing food; it’s planting seeds of hope, teaching life skills, and giving the girls experiences that will nourish them for a lifetime.
Thank you for making a lasting difference. Because of you, the harvest is not just in the fields — it’s in the hearts of every girl at WellSpring.
