The History Of WellSpring

WellSpring is a Christ-centered ministry called to rescue and restore orphaned and vulnerable children living in extreme poverty. Founded in the winter of 2022, WellSpring exists to be a vessel of hope and healing for the children who are clinging to survival. Our mission is modeled after the powerful example found in Matthew 14:13–21, where Jesus, even in a moment of personal grief, turned with compassion to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the hurting crowd.

In that passage, Jesus tells His disciples, “You give them something to eat.” When they respond with doubt, saying they only have five loaves and two fish, Jesus simply says, “Bring them to me.” He takes their small offering, blesses it, and multiplies it to feed thousands. That miracle is not just a story—it is the foundation of how WellSpring was born and how it continues to operate today. We bring what little we have, and Christ does the multiplying.

The name WellSpring is drawn from Psalm 36:9, which declares, “For with you is the wellspring of life; in your light, we see light.” Christ is our WellSpring—our eternal source of life, hope, and transformation. Just as He met the needs of the multitudes then, He continues to bring life and renewal to the broken today.

WellSpring began with nothing but a calling—a few “loaves and fish”—and a deep burden to serve children in desperate need. In March 2022, we took the first steps to establish the ministry in Zambia. The Lord’s hand was clearly upon the work. What should have taken over a year to establish legally was completed in under four months. By June 2022, the Lord had led us to Mufulira, a deeply underserved area in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province.

The first girls’ home was opened in a humble rented house, and from there, the work began—furnishing the home, building community relationships, and preparing a team whose hearts were fully surrendered to the mission. In just six months, what began as a calling became a living, breathing ministry.

Today, WellSpring is still young, but it is vibrant—new wine in new wineskins. Like the early Church scattered for God’s purposes, our team was brought together from many paths to serve one mission: to glorify God by offering healing, stability, and Christ-centered care to the most vulnerable.

In under two years, lives have already been transformed. Children who once lived in unsafe, unstable conditions now sleep safely, go to school, and grow in the love and knowledge of Christ. Families and communities around them are seeing the Gospel in action—the good news of Jesus, the source of eternal hope, and the WellSpring of life.

The Vision of WellSpring

To see generations of once-forgotten children transformed by Christ—restored, equipped, and walking in hope, no longer defined by their past but thriving in God’s purpose.

The Mission of WellSpring

WellSpring is a Christ-centered ministry serving vulnerable children and orphans by providing immediate
relief through long-term rescue and restoration.

Children are placed in safe, loving homes where every physical need is met, and they are surrounded by the love of Christ. Through counseling, education, life skills training, and discipleship, each child begins a journey of healing—encouraged to seek God’s will and follow His calling for their life.
