The girls’ home in Mufulira currently has three open spots for the new year in 2024. The staff in Zambia has been busy reviewing applications and multiple applications have been accepted for review.

The school has been on an extended break due to a cholera pandemic that broke out across Zambia at the end of the regular holiday season.

This year, WellSpring celebrated Christmas with a combination of Zambian and American customs. It was a blessed day filled with special memories, and a true gift from God to spend time as a family.

This past year has gone so quickly, but WellSpring reached a new milestone on December 3 as Naomi and Jolima shared their 2nd Birthday at the house in Mufulira.

The girls at WellSpring love to spend time playing various games once their chores, homework, and studies are complete. It has been beautiful to see the blend of traditional Zambian games and American games such as Uno, Connect 4, and a favorite “Dodgeball”.

Annie turned 14 today, and the girls celebrated with cake, a special dinner, and a party.

Giving Tuesday has become a Global Movement. Here in the US we understand it to be a day in which we “give” to our favorite charity or non-profit in order to help that group accomplish a mission we have passion for.

As part of our monthly tradition, we gather once a month for a Bible study at our residence, focusing on praising and worshipping God through song. This week, we were privileged to host visitors from Campus Crusade for Christ, Racheal and Diana. The Wellspring team felt truly blessed to share in fellowship with them.

Over the last 2 weeks WellSpring has been given an amazing opportunity to begin its first farming project. The ministry was able to secure 2 limas (5 acres) of uncleared land. The task of clearing the land has started and the plan is to grow maize (corn) on all 5 acres.

Wellspring GIrls house is a sanctuary for over 10 girls, providing them with a clean, safe environment and access to educational and recreational activities. Our primary objective is to safeguard these girls from early marriages, sexual exploitation, physical abuse, and other forms of maltreatment that they may have encountered prior to their arrival. Ensuring their security and protection is our top priority.
