Meet Richard Chalwe, a brave young man from Kawama North. Richard’s life has been filled with hardship — he lost his father when he was young, and today, he lives with his elderly grandparents, helping them survive by doing small delivery jobs just to earn enough for one meal a day. His mother, Violet Banda, is still alive but is very ill after an accident and unable to support him.
Richard had to stop school after Grade 7 because there was no one to sponsor him. Even though he dreams of finishing his education, for years he simply survived — working hard, helping his family, and holding onto hope.
Thanks to you — our generous WellSpring donors — Richard’s story is changing. Because of your support, WellSpring is stepping in to help Richard return to school! A spot has already been secured for him at Twashuka Primary School, and with your help, we will provide his uniforms, a school bag, and the books he needs to succeed.
Richard says he’s ready to leave behind the piece work and focus fully on school — not just for himself, but so he can one day lift his family out of poverty. His courage and determination are inspiring, and it’s your support that makes these miracles possible.
But there are more young men like Richard still waiting for a chance.
Your continued generosity opens the door for others who are desperate for help — children who are ready to work hard but just need someone to believe in them.
Thank you for being that someone.
Thank you for giving Richard — and many more — the gift of hope and a future.
