Blessings is a bright 10-year-old girl who has been raised by her widowed mother, now 48 years old. At times, she also lived with her cousin Catherine. Despite her mother’s best efforts, it has been difficult to consistently provide food and access to education. With her father having passed away when she was very young, the burden has been heavy on her small family. Blessings has now joined the WellSpring family, where she can receive the support, care, and education she needs to thrive.
Blessings lost her father when she was just a baby. Her mother, now 48, has faced great difficulty trying to care for her and her niece Catherine, often struggling to provide even one meal a day. The family’s situation was made more complex and painful by the influence of Blessings’ aunt, whose lifestyle around local bars created unsafe and unstable conditions for the children.
At times, the aunt would take Blessings and Catherine with her, leaving them unattended outside the bars for hours—a deeply unsafe environment for two young girls. Recognizing the urgency and risk in their lives, both Blessings and Catherine were welcomed into the care of WellSpring, where they are now receiving the safety, stability, and support every child deserves.
