We met Reuben as he was coming to our place to sell avocados, his family’s only source of income. After meeting him a few times we began to realize he is an extremely bright young man. The more we began to question him, we began to understand his story and how truly hard a life he and his family are living. We are so grateful the Lord brought Reuben and his family our way.

My name is Reuben, I am 13 years old. I stay in Kawama West. I stay with my mother Grace, and two younger brothers, Innocent, and Haggai who is the last born.

My mother does not work. She only is able to sell vegetables. Most times she sends us to sell vegetables or avocados. We have 1 avocado tree outside our house and for the past several months this is the only thing we have been able to sell as we have lost all of our capital to be able to order or buy additional vegetables for resale.

We stay in a 2 room mud brick house that we rent. This is all we can afford in our family of four.

Most times mom has a challenge in feeding us, we mostly have one meal or no meal in a day. My mother struggles to buy school supplies. I go to Kawama Community School. It is hard for my mother to even buy me notebooks, shoes, and other school supplies. My two brothers go to another community and are in grade 1.

Thank you so much for helping me with school supplies, my uniform, school bag, and shoes. This is really encouraging me.
