This past Saturday was a significant day for the children sponsored by Wellspring, a program designed to bring all sponsored male students together for Bible study lessons and other interactions. All ten girls residing in the house were instructed by Joyce, who delivered a lesson based on the book of Matthew 6:5-14, focusing on the Lord’s Prayer and its significance. The male students received instruction from Mr. Mumba, who presented a lesson drawn from Genesis 1:1-5. The boys dedicated a considerable amount of time to introductions and discussing their understanding of God. The objective of the lesson was to introduce God as the Creator of the universe and to explore their perceptions of Him.
This Saturday program is a continuous initiative, with the team having organized a comprehensive calendar of lessons and activities that will significantly benefit the students. Saturdays commence with the team dividing into groups for lessons and discussions, which later culminate in a collective session of singing and prayer.
Many of the children hailing from the compound encounter numerous challenges within their environments, friendships, schools, and communities. A significant number of the communities from which our sponsored children originate lack positive role models, with rising instances of alcohol and drug dependence. Additionally, many children are affected by the absence of church attendance among their parents. The Saturday lesson program is poised to be a highly impactful initiative aimed at nurturing and supporting the children we serve at Wellspring.
