The girls enjoyed a special afternoon and evening on February 14th, Valentine’s Day. As they arrived home from school, they were greeted with special valentines created by the Webb girls (a.k.a. the “Webby” family) each girl received her personalized note, and Naomi helped them to read and translate as necessary.
Then it was time to help with the party setup, blowing of balloons, and making the house festive. It was a great time and we found out Micah and Faith love to blow balloons, but not interested in tying balloons..
Once the house was set the girls went to work on making special valentines cards for their moms and grandmas, which will be presented this coming Saturday as we invite their families to come to the house for a special update.
Once the girls were satisfied with their cards, we moved on to the dinner part of the party. We started by sharing we celebrate the Love of Christ because He first loved us – they memorized I John 4:19 and this was the theme of the evening.
The girls were given gifts of beanie babies (which have been a HUGE hit), candies, and gummies. The smiles were endless and then we shared in a favorite meal of Hungry Lion chicken and fries.
After dinner, the girls wanted to end the night with dancing – traditional Zambian dancing.
It was truly a blessing to see these girls enjoying this day with a special party, feeling so loved by their “American” family and learning that before they even heard of Jesus – He knew them and He loved them first. It was so much fun watching them embrace their new “babies”, laughing, playing, and being silly. It was a very special afternoon and evening.
