We “GAINED” another Resident!!!

This week the team took time to examine the girl’s growth and development. The girls have been living under our care for nearly a year. Their day-to-day lives look significantly different now than from the lives they were coming from. They are attending school, and church, eating three meals per day, accessing medical care, and clean water, warm beds, and a loving Christ-led leadership team pushing them to be all Christ has called them to be.

When you listen to their stories, you find each of them were coming from homes where they were surviving on one small meal per day, and one who was born into a world of HIV and with the proper medications, her virus can be non-detectable, but those medications require eating healthy meals or your body will reject the medication and you become even sicker. For the first time in her life she is staying daily on her medications and her health is soaring – now the team is able to focus on the emotional side of the virus and counseling her as she grows closer and closer to the years she will want to be like any young woman – falling for her first “crush”, wanting to date, and to someday find her “prince” to marry and have a family with.

Or for the young lady who is in our care who spent almost a year bedridden due to sickness and her body is so stunted in growth that her organ development is years behind. We are visibly seeing her body come out of that damage and she is becoming a healthy young woman.

The average increase of each of the girls was 13 lbs! The total gain for the group was 101 lbs and when the girls entered our care the average weight of the girls was 75 lbs.. so with all this individual gain… it’s like we gained a whole new resident!

We are so thankful for our amazing staff and volunteers. Clara is “mom” to all of these girls, but she has the volunteer support of Sarah, Naomi, Mercy, and Joice. All of these women are a critical part of these girl’s stories – they are moms and sisters who live out the love and compassion of Christ before these girls every day.

We are so thankful for your support and prayers. Exciting days are still ahead. The Lord is doing so many amazing things. Please continue to pray over the girl’s health and healing.
