The girls’ home in Mufulira currently has three open spots for the new year in 2024. The staff in Zambia has been busy reviewing applications and multiple applications have been accepted for review. Most families have requested full sponsorship (residential status), while a few have requested partial assistance.
Our team has closely reviewed each application and conducted the necessary background checks. Every child accepted into WellSpring has to go through a full review process, first by our team and then an additional layer by the local government office for the Ministry of Social Welfare. This partnership is a valuable layer of support as they do not overstep their role, but are available to assist ministries such as ours. They are not responsible for placing children in our homes, but they do review the family situation and if they feel that something is amiss, they can step in as a governmental protection agency and deal directly with the families via legal process.
Currently, the candidates who are going through the last stages of the process are as follows: 1) Marrien, a 12-year-old girl in grade 5, 2) Blessings, a 9-year-old girl in grade 2, and 3) Cathrine, an 11-year-old girl in grade 2.
Please keep the candidates, staff, and families in your prayers as the team makes the final decisions and completes the final reviews.
